Bike saves Super would appreciate

I know this first video is one Mario showed me way back in the day. Unbelievable.... Freakin' amazing this guy doesn't get dumped after he high sides (I couldn't find it with audio, but still, watching it is madness enough):

This clip of Colin Edwards isn't too bad. Super wasn't the Edwards fan per se, but I thought the gesture Edwards made after saving himself was very Super'esque...

We miss you Mario.

How did you meet Mario?

A couple tidbits:

Our stock is up with Google this morning!

Today Googling Mario Frassetto brings up the blog in the number 3 & 4 spots! Nice!

After typing up a large portion of the social/adult history of Mario and the story behind the Hustler Helmet, it'd be so easy for me to slip and type Googirls instead of Google. That's a true fact let me tell 'ya. "Super's words coming out of my mouth." Hehe! Sadly, that website really does exist. A very longwinded story about the helmet is on it's way this week.

I was hoping anyone willing and able to type something up briefly could just comment on this post. Just a small paragraph: how did you meet Mario? I'll comment after someone else goes...

MarioTV : Episode 3 : Fight Club

Super was sort of the epitomy of Tyler Durden (or at least that's what he always wished for, haha.) I wish I could find pictures from a six or seven years ago, when he went out on Halloween wearing the Tyler Durden jacket. When he got home that night the jacket had been torn down the side - if I recall correctly, scaling a chainlink fence will do that to you. Some Super shenanigans for 'ya.

Although not definitive, Fight Club was probably Super's favorite movie. It was in his top 3 for sure. One of the things that really cemented our friendship was the fact that he and I could always pick up on movie quotes we threw at each other. If I had a buck for every time we quoted Fight Club I'd have someone else blogging for me right now. So many great (dirty) quotes came from that movie. Oh dude, it's ridiculous. "Now a question of etiquette, as I pass do I give you the ass or the crotch?" We quoted it on a daily basis for 8 years. I know, how unoriginal of us. For shame!

I do plan on editting my own Fight Club clips at some point and uploading them to Mario's Youtube so we can view them here. For now, take a listen to the 8 Rules of Fight Club. Once you've heard them check out the speech Tyler Durden gives to his space monkeys. This will do wonders for any cubicle-types out there stuck in their pods for the rest of the week. Wait, I'm one of those cubicle-types kind of.

Needs editing: Video No Longer Present

Next time I post about Fight Club I'll throw Ikea in the basement too. Should be fun. Fight Club taught me a certain level of animosity towards Ikea before I'd even been to one. Little did I know that it was right all along!

Super gets 86'd from Mudvayne at The Joint

For Super’s first trip to Vegas, going to see Mudvayne while we were there was a no brainer. It was being held at The Joint at Hard Rock, a small venue that ensured it would be an awesome show. Super, JC and I arrived a couple hours before the show to get our pre-drink on. Super of course was making the rounds, sharing stories of his past Mudvayne concert experiences with others and also getting into his concert mood. He changed into his concert clothes, entered the venue and immediately headed for the bar to get another drink - you can see that he had a Mudvayne shirt on pre-show, but took it off prior to entering the venue: the only time you should wear a band's shirt at the concert is if you are actually part of the band, otherwise you’re just a dork.

[Super being Super, those people didn’t even know him a minute ago!]

JC and I decided to stake out a spot midway back, knowing that we most likely would only see Super for brief periods between his crowd surfing. Shortly thereafter, Mudvayne took the stage and we could see the first person up and over naturally was Super. Mudvayne only played a few songs since they were opening for Korn, so they were not on stage for long. It did seem sort of weird, however, that we hadn’t even seen Super make a quick pass by us before going up and over again. Hell, maybe he decided to hang in the pit or next to a hot ass chick, that sort of thing was very plausible.

We had decided not to stay for Korn prior to the show…there is other shit to do in Vegas…so we headed to the exit to meet Super. Well, to our surprise, Super was already outside by the ticket counter. We were at first wondering ‘what the fuck?’ until he showed us big ass red mark on his hand. He told us that he had been outside trying to get back in the whole time. After his first trip over the barricade, instead of security showing him the way back onto the floor, they showed him the door…apparently crowd surfing was prohibited and signs were posted as a warning. So where were these magical signs? Ah, most likely large and numerous and for all to see. Well, we took a photo of the sign…enough said.

[The obvious, can’t miss, right in front of your face, brightly lit sign]

Anyways, Super was none too happy as you would expect, so after a little persuasion, we headed out of there without further incident back to the hotel (thankfully we were not staying at the Hard Rock…for their sake) and vowed never to return to the shit box known as The Joint again.

Super…just back to the hotel after “the show”

Super…30 minutes later after a few drinks and some pharmaceutical help from me.

Adopt-A-Highway

Ok, I've got good news and I've got kinda bad news. Which would you like first? Everyone always wants the good news first for some reason.

The good news is that we're on the waiting list for the PCH Route 1 Southbound, where Mario passed away.

Awesome man, awesome.

The bad news is that we're on the waiting list. I'm not sure how many deep we are but I spoke with the coordinator and she is going to have a look and get back to me. After reading their literature I had no definitive answer on what we were able to do in the area. According to the people in charge, for the PCH there is only one option to Adopt-A-Highway and that is for litter removal only. Jeff and I were kind of hoping they'd allow graffiti cleanup as well so we could rent orange jumpsuits and chain ourselves together with buckets of paint thinner and scrubber brushes dangling from our batbelts. (Then again, there is no graffiti in the area to clean up so the job would be pretty quick.)

Overall the best news I can give is that so long as there is a breath left in my body, I will live to see this:

Pretty snazzy if I do say so myself. "In Memory of Mario Frassetto." How fitting.

Playing the Google game

Over the weekend the Google machine was playing mind games with me. It dropped the ranking of our blog to 9th, and then wallah, today we're up to 6th/7th depending on the minute. Keep clicking those links people. Super would appreciate it. With any luck in a month or two we'll be able to Google the blog up to numero uno where it belongs.

I'm going to put a couple posts up this week that are laced with so many urls you won't be able to see straight. I'll even be kind enough to notify you when the blog links you're about to click may not be safe for work (NSFW). I think it's impossible to get around a couple of posts like that given Mario's passion for.....yeah. We'll just have to make do. In the privacy of our own homes, we can click whatever we want. I may just have to buy a new mouse when I'm done writing the blog about the Hustler Helmet.

Some Sisterly Love

Mario's sister Andrea sent me a couple pictures from their last get together in Wisconsin.

In her words: "My Favorite Wingman"

I'm slowly trying to persuade Andrea in here so she can say a word or two. I'm sure people would love to hear some of the lifelong stories she's able to share from Super's earlier years. When he was not 29 or 29, or on his other birthday, when he wasn't....29-years old. In fact he magically found the fountain of youth by just saying he was 29 for basically the past 4-years. I may have to try that in a few months, ha!

In the meantime I wanted to stop by to post this picture of the two of them and let anyone and everyone know that I'm not through yet. Not even close. I've got some things in the pipeline and updates and stories will be coming out this week. I've got titles and things lined up and am piecing things together. MarioTV episodes 3 and 4 are in the factory being worked on as we speak. I still have a long way to go before I finish celebrating Mario's life. Super Mario my friend, I won't letcha down. I promise. You've had the party, but I have 10,000 stories to share and I'll be damned if I don't get a few of them out there. *Nod*

Warren had asked me about setting up a forum so people could speak freely about Mario, and I'm looking in to that. For the time being, if you have anything you want to contribute let one of us know so we can get you set up. Also, each blog post can be commented on by anyone with an email address. A week or so ago when I posted something, Autumn responded to it, and I responded back. If anyone has anything to add at the moment, feel free to drop it in. Click the pencil below the blog post and go from there.

And of course, this and all other future blog posts are in memory of Mr. Mario Frassetto.

This week will rock. Just watch.

A small homage to MarioTV : Episode 2

What a coincidence. I was going through a box of stuff and found this:

I'll wear it with pride, Super.

Mario's Myspace

What kind of a guy uses "look good naked" as his Myspace url? Super.

I took the time to unlock Mario's profile so that people could get in and nudge around a little bit. He had a little bit of stuff on there if you want to take a look. If you feel the desire to post a comment over there, by all means...

Also, I'm going to be adding:

In memory of Mario Frassetto...

...to the end of the blog posts so we can rack up more points with the Google machine. If you take the time to read the blog and would be kind enough just to click Mario's name at the end it would be greatly appreciated. The more clicks, the faster we can Google him to the top.

Thanks, and more soon.

MarioTV : Episode 2: Mudvayne

Welcome back to another round of MarioTV. Today's lesson is Metalurgy, 101.

Nothing like a double dose of Mudvayne and the song "Determined" to get your weekend started right. Or Fucking Determined, as someone once called it. Most definitely one of his favorites.

The first video is the studio version of Mudvayne recording their music. Personally, I like watching Chad Gray sing the song the way it is heard on the album today. I don't know how his vocals hold up the way they do; that guy really rips into the lyrics with every single breath he takes. I wasn't a Mudvayne fan whatsoever until Mario was like, "here, try this." I beefed up my iPod with this stuff and it hasn't left since. Great gym music for sure!

The second video is the video release, which I'm sure Super would prefer. After all, he was a mosh pit and crowd surf expert. Well, except that one time. But, more on that later. I thought putting the vids up would be more appropriate. During my next storytime, I'll get to The Joint and the Hard Rock "86'd" incident that Chaucer was referring to yesterday.

Mudvayne : Determined

Go...
So fucking determined!
Yeah, yeah go...
You better believe it! Confidence!
Go...
So fucking determined!
Yeah, yeah go...
Spit out all reason!
Yeah!

I'm tired of holding up the weight, the weight of the motherfucking world!
All I want is to just get right here, right now!
We struggle and fight just to get in the grave, that's overflowing!
Clocks ticking on my fifteen minutes of fame, come On now!
123 Go!

Go...
So fucking determined!
Yeah, yeah go...
You better believe it! Confidence!
Go...
So fucking determined!
Yeah, yeah go...
Spit out all reason!
Yeah!

I'm flushing the trust of everyone, stabbing in the back and thinkin' they can break me!
Set my sight, can't die till I'm done, mind endurance!
Never wanted anymore than what I deserve, better bring it I'm taking it all!
Fuck an inch 'cause I'm bringin' a mile, it's on now 123 go!

Go...
So fucking determined!
Yeah, yeah go...
You better believe it! Confidence!
Go...
So fucking determined!
Yeah, yeah go...
Spit out all reason!
Yeah!

This fire, is growing, is burning deep inside of me, focused, driven, certain, the way it's got to be.
Fire, growing, burning. Deep inside of me, focused, driven, certain, the way it's got to be.
Crooked, no trust, liars, conmen, drunk with, power, mentor, taught me everything that I know...
So wrong,
Wrong,
Wrong,
Wrong...
123 Go...

So fucking determined!
Yeah, yeah go...
You better believe it! Confidence!
Go...
So fucking determined!
Yeah, yeah go...
Spit out all reason!
Yeah!
Go...
I'm fucking determined!
Yeah, yeah go...
You better believe it! Confidence!
Go...
I'm fucking determined!
Yeah, yeah go...
Spit out all reason!
Yeah!

It's here!

Booyakasha!!!

Lookie what just arrived in the mail. I special ordered this badboy but it didn't arrive in time for the weekend.

Super would have rolled over in his urn the other day if he had seen the display case for the Hustler Helmet I had picked up prior to the party. It's the one shown in the party pics. It was pretty crappy if I do say so myself, but on such short notice all I could find. (And by the way Super, I called 37 different places looking for that for you by the way. There goes my anytime minutes). :)

The thought had occurred to me that I should just mask off the glass and spray-paint it (a Super paint job special) - but it just wouldn't have been the same. Super and a can of spray-paint, that's a story for another day for sure! (Jeff, you wanna take that one?) I'll give you the pics to back it up, just as long as you tell everyone about the Heinz Ketchup Bottle. After you write it I'm sure Autumn or myself will chime in about his "coffee table" painting skills.

An entire blog is on it's way about Mario and his kid-in-a-candy-store tale about this lid. The story itself is so many times sweeter than Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory that it'll blow your mind. It'll be so action packed with links and all sorts of goodness I can't even begin to explain. Just thinking about it gives me carpal tunnel syndrome. Ummm. Yeah. Carpal tunnel syndrome. Hey, it's a healthy excuse right?

As the man himself would say about the upcoming blog...

DELICIOUS!

Ohhh, and in my own words, thank f*ck for rollover minutes.

Throttling up...

We're now ranked in the 8th position. I don't want to read or see basura when I Google Mario Frassetto. I want the good stuff. Stuff like this.

PS: sometimes a picture is worth more than a thousand words. ;)

Rocking out at the Hard Rock in Vegas

So I had to post this pic for Super…that’s him with Vinnie Paul (from Pantera and most recently Hell Yeah, in case you didn’t know) at the Hard Rock in Vegas. It was the day before JC arrived and the infamous Super getting eighty-sixed from the Mudvayne concert…story and pics later. I was getting my ass reamed at the black jack table as usual and Super was bouncing around “being Super” when he came up to me stoked ass hell, pointing him out at a table across the way. Later that night we were circling the bar and casino when we passed Vinnie Paul, so of course he asked to get his picture taken…that shit made his day and unfortunately was pretty much the highlight of his first trip to Vegas (later trips turned out fucking worlds better).

A Note From Jeff, AKA Chaucer

Shit, I can’t believe Super is gone. Man, it was just fucking yesterday that we went out the night before he left for Cali, stopping at as many bars as we could think of that we had went to and having a drink at each. In his words, “one and done.” We had a lot of great times like that together in the last couple of years as roommates…from all the ‘hockey nights in Canada’ and going to Coyotes games for free- Super had the hook-ups; watching MotoGP, F1, AMA racing that he had taped or getting up early to catch them live- Super explaining that shit to me while pointing out the hot umbrella girls (and making sure I didn’t miss them as they flash by the screen…kudos to Super); to just going out for drinks and chicks- Super of course had a higher batting average than me. Super was always the life of the party, no matter where we went…and every place we would go, there was always someone that knew him. I’d say rest in peace, Super…but I know that wherever you are, you are doing that shit up the Super way.

-Chaucer

MarioTV : Episode 1: American Head Charge

Welcome to the first episode of MarioTV.

Straight from his myspace source:

Favorite music: Heavy metal. I.E. Mudvayne, Pantera, American Headcharge, Static X, Tool, Alice In Chains, Slipknot, Rammstein, OLD Metallica, Motorhead, NIN.. etc...I won't change so don't try, but I don't force it on anyone. If you like shitty music, that is your business. Also, music should be able to be played loud enough that it hurts or you feel it.

There's a lot of music out there Mario enjoyed, and this is going to be the first of the videos I'm going to post in his memory. Several others will be coming soon, but there's just something about this one that catches my eye. If you should choose to watch it, take a close look at the hand gesture the lead singer makes between the 3:34 and 3:36 mark (it means something). Where possible lyrics will be listed right below the video.

American Head Charge : Just So You Know

The surface is so cold and worthless
All the things that I have still come from there
So paint the windows in front of my face
When you know damn well there's no one behind them

I wish your body was not so warm to me
I wish your body was not so warm to me
I wish your body was not so warm to me
Just so you know

And all it was was something beautiful
When tides and dreams don't seem so tall at all
And all it was was something beautiful
When tides and dreams don't seem so tall at all

It's me against the world, still I'm losing ground
And I'd kill to taste what it must be like
Cause it's every one of my empty parts
That you fill, now

I wish your body was not so warm to me
I wish your body was not so warm to me
I wish your body was not so warm to me
Just so you know

And all it was was something beautiful
When tides and dreams don't seem so tall at all
And all it was was something beautiful
When tides and dreams don't seem so tall at all

Pause silence
Another moment dropped off
Left behind and
Hanging still

You won't see me
You won't see me
You won't see me
You won't see me

I can't see you
I can't see you
I can't see you
I can't see you

And all it was was something
And all it was was something beautiful
When tides and dreams don't seem so tall at all
And all it was was something beautiful
When tides and dreams don't seem so tall at all

In memory of Mario Frassetto.

One more thing before I forget...

At some point in time Mario himself would have been delighted to know that Googling his name would bring up more than just a story. For him, it would have been an alias, a career, and.....well, need I say anything more. :)

The more we blog about Mario, using his full name where possible (but being careful not to over use it), and linking various keywords like Valentino Rossi and things, the more the mad Google machine reads through the algorithms here on the inter-trode and moves the most highly viewed pages to the top.

A week ago if you Googled "Mario Frassetto" this blog wouldn't have existed. As of about 5-minutes ago, we're ranked 9th on the front page.

All I have to say is bad ass! (Ah, the computer SEO geek coming out in me!) Can't wait to move Mario's blog up to the number one Google position where it belongs.

(Update: I got word that Mario's blog is ranked 8th in Google all the way over in South Africa...)

The last picture I took of Super

This was taken while headed to the beach in SoCal on June 22nd, one week before Mario Frassetto passed away.

In trademark Super fashion (when he wasn't flipping the camera off), he'd be sticking his tongue out and/or giving some metal. Obviously the people in here know that, because your pictures probably have very similar trademark moves. Matter of fact, glancing through the pictures I've found of the two of us, or three of us including Jeff (albeit I haven't been looking very hard, yet) - only a couple lack the metal/tongue/finger combinations that Super was known for.

A second before this picture was taken I turned my head and said, "Super, give the camera some love..."

And the result? Just like I imagined it would be.

We spent the day at the beach throwing the frisbee around for about 4-5 hours. I never knew he was such a beach and frisbee bum! It was a great day for the two of us to chill and talk about life. We laughed at each other later when we both admitted that "like a couple of dogs we could have stayed out there playing fetch with that thing all day."

The next day was a different story. We found ourselves on another beach, softer sand, much higher winds, while the tide was in. Both of our right arms had been beat to hell from throwing the disc the day before. We both reluctantly admitted that even though we wanted to play it hurt every single time just to wing the disc. We put ourselves through half an hour of hell before packing up our stuff to head down towards Main Street (Huntington Beach) and get some grub.

I also wanted to share that I spoke with Mario's parents and they are keeping an eye on the blog as well. They really appreciate everything everyone has done for Mario, and are grateful for having us celebrate him the way we are. His mom also shared with me that she'll be sending along some pictures of "Mario the Kid" - which I can't wait to post up for everyone to get a look at. There's bound to be a laugh or two in there!

I, amongst everyone else, are very proud to have known Mario.

As usual, catch you guys soon.

Posted by, well, just look right below here for the answer to that question. __

Thank you everyone for coming to my home to celebrate Super's life. But most of all thank you Mario for surrounding yourself with such an amazing group of people! The party was SWEET!

07.20.08 : A Tribute to Mario : Part 1

"And the doc-tah wins!!!

Although he is the greatest rider in the world, Valentino Rossi had yet to win at Laguna Seca. Until today! Rossi tore up the competition at the US Red Bull GP, which was a sweet victory for all of us because Mario had ridden a bike on the Laguna track. Another awesome race that Rossi made look sooooo easy!

The party at Warren's house was nothing shy of perfect. Good food, good drink, and great conversation, just the way Mario would have wanted it. I think I speak for everyone that the turn out was really impressive. It was nice to see people that haven't been around in awhile, putting faces to the names we've all heard, as well as those new faces who were brave enough to show up not having met anyone prior to today. Thanks so much for coming out! It was a great gathering and tribute to Mario. It felt really good to be in that company.

While typing this up I had a thought I wanted to share. Just for a moment, visualize that Mario was there. Standing around looking over our shoulders with a silly little grin on his face. Pointing at stuff, then making his eyes flash big for a split-second. Goofing around. Talking about the race. Somehow managing to be everywhere at once! "Dude dude dude, you gotta check this out. Are you shitting me?" Chatting it up with the ladies while having a drink. Smiling and laughing and being a centerpiece of energy. Turning to his guy friends and talking gears, music, and of course women! There really are no words to describe it, no matter how hard I try. His style truly, truly is one-of-a-kind. To the average person this list may look pretty ordinary, but to the people who knew him well, he was farrrrr from average. You could set that guy loose anywhere and he'd march to the beat of his own drum. Before you knew it, people would be picking up on the beat. I can guarantee that wherever Super is, he was making weird gestures with his hands accompanied by words that only exist in his world while we sat around and spoke his name. That right there is a happy visual, because if we had the power to see it, we would have seen it happening. You know?

Many thanks to VW for having everyone over. Great, great party.

Some other pictures from the party will be on their way up once I get a little more time to resize and whatnot, and we'll pile 'em all together. If anyone wants a full size set, let me know. A couple invites are out, so hopefully Warren and Jeff should both be writing something on here shortly as well! (Remember as Super would say, "it's all about Quality, not Quantity.")

In a class by himself...

Stephanie saw this article in BLVD magazine and thought about Mario. I thought I'd put it up for everyone. She scanned it and resized it so it'd be wallpaper size...

Thanks!

(be sure to check out the comment Stephanie left below, and yes, that is Mario by the way...)

The Earth Vacuum : Part 1

The last time I drove Interstate 8 eastbound, Mario was my passenger. We were headed back after a NIN concert in September of 2005, and neither of us was in a very pleasant mood. The NIN drummer had a "panic attack" and the show was cancelled after about 2 songs. Whatever. Going up through the mountain pass between San Diego and the desert in the middle of the night may also have been better had I not sliced my finger open while reaching into my bag. My razor had shuffled loose from it's normal spot and it caught me right under the fingernail. No concert, no chapstick, and a bloody finger. I was pissed. Mario laughed like crazy while blood dripped from my finger down to my elbow before grabbing me a napkin out of the glovebox. We stopped to get some gas, he saw the damage and apologized for laughing so hard. (Which is something he'd do. It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt.) I put my brights on for most of the drive because we had zero company on the road. Going up and down through the mountains I criss-crossed the eastbound lanes and drifted around the highway like it was my own personal track. Kudos. After a bit we turned our bad moods on end with some good music and by me pushing the car. Mario commented on my speed, ever Mr. Cautious, "going over 110 won't get us home any faster there Speed Racer." Which was translation for, "if you get pulled over, I'm not driving your car back you crazy fuck."

On this drive I didn't get to enjoy Mario's company. Jeff, as usual, was passed out most of the way to Tucson. After coming out of the mountains and descending into the desert my thoughts wandered back through the entire weekend. What a weekend. I never could have imagined going to Cali without having Super here or there, and especially not under the circumstances we had just gone through. I couldn't believe it, not even then. Gravity kept my tires on the road while the sound of thousands of Cicadas whizzed past my car like electricity was forming in every living thing. Jeff stirred momentarily and I asked him if he could hear the Cicadas too. He looked at me like I was crazy.

It wasn't until we were flying along one of the long straightaways that I noticed streaks of light racing out in front of my car from the sun. The sun had been perched over my left shoulder ever since we dropped down onto the desert floor. There were a few patches of clouds lingering on both sides of the road. The sun and the sky looked completely different every few seconds I glanced out. I kept looking and looking, I must have looked back over my left shoulder a thousand times. I couldn't help but wonder why everything seemed so unusual to me this time. Why did the air seem more pure today than any other day I'd ever seen it in my life? Did the sun streaks seem more potent because my good friend was gone? Deep breath. The car looked so small on I-8. Outside my windows in every direction it was like I was looking up at the earth. Up at earth!? For a moment I forgot where we were. The air felt so oversaturated as every shade of blue filtered down through the tint, my sunglasses, and my eyes. All the edges of earth seemed to meet space right out on the horizons while I was driving. There was a calm confusion taking place. It was peaceful. I sat still while it washed over me.

I decided to grab my camera and snap some pics while I was driving. I took about 40 pictures, all from different vantage points. I was amazed at how different they all turned out over the course of an hour, given I was headed in the same direction. (If you click a picture it should open larger.) I apologize for the occasional bug splat. I had to split up the blog because of the size restriction on photos and wanted to put the best ones up.

Towards the end of the straightaway, around a couple bends, I recorded a video accompanied by the song "Beside You In Time" by Nine Inch Nails. I know Mario wasn't a huge fan of this particular album, but when the song came on it just reminded me of him so much. The lyrics had never meant something to me before then. The entire video is shot left-handed while I'm driving the car. I succumbed to YouTube so I could put the entire thing up (Blogger wanted me to compress it.) If you have a 5 minutes to spare please turn up the volume and take the time to watch it. Listed below the video are the lyrics...

I am all alone this time around
Sometimes on the side I hear a sound
Places parallel I know it's you
Feel the little pieces bleeding through

And all this goes on
And on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on
This goes on
And on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on

Now that I've decided not to stay
I can feel me start to fade away
Everything is back where it belongs
I will be beside you before long, and on,
This goes on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on
This goes on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on

We will never die
Beside you in time
We will never die
Beside you in time

Look what I just found...

Super has this on his Myspace too....

Super would say...

"Hang up the phone and drive."

Warren picked up a glossy black motorcycle helmet along with some gold and silver markers so we could all sign it at the party this weekend and send it on to Mario's folks. Great idea!

The helmet will be in Tempe for a few days after the party in the event you can't make it please contact myself or Warren so you can sign it before it gets shipped. He'll be accepting small donations for shipping and handling at the party. The cost of the helmet is covered. Thanks Warren.

Nice!

"Hanging around, hanging around..."

Just wanted to give everyone in here a heads up.

Mario's party is this weekend at Warren's house. The details are listed under "A Party for Mario." You can contact me if you need any other info. Right now it's bring your own bbq material, and there's gonna be plenty of other food and drink. Myself, as well as the few people I know that are going, will all be bringing something to contribute of sorts.

I will be bringing a framed picture of Mario and a stand for it, as well as his Hustler Helmet which he recently had signed by various adult actresses at the L.A. Erotica convention. It is Mario's little crown jewel, he loved the fact that he had it signed, and it basically represented a couple of his favorite things. Fast bikes and (fast) women. It'll be in a glass display, as he himself was particular about the ink "ever, ever" being smudged on the autographs.

I've just finally gotten the chance to go through some of Mario's things, even though I don't have all of them with me. From my understanding, some has been shipped to his parents and his sister, although I'm going to need to confirm this and that on the phone or email probably in the next day or so. His computer is still coming in from California, so I should (hopefully) get access to all his pictures and word documents here shortly. (Umm, if you're a close friend of his and you sent pictures that you may or may not want me to see, I'm sorry, but I'm gonna probably see them :)

When Mario moved to California some things went with him (his favorite and well, his best stuff), some was boxed and taken in a storage container, and some of it is still being stored somewhere here in Arizona. I'm just trying to make sure that all-things-Mario are not left behind. I've decided that his actual hockey equipment should be donated to the rink he last played at, so that way someone else may be able to piece together enough equipment to go out on the ice. Super would have liked that.

I wanted to give anyone and everyone an opportunity to ask me about something of sentimental value to them. His parents and sister are being taken care of, but if there is a favorite Mario shirt or something small of rememberance I will try to locate it if I can and send it out. Everything is literally scattered to the wind right now though...

Last but not least, I have a huge-HUGE list of things that remind me of Mario that I'll start chipping away at. After his party this weekend and once a few things settle down I will be in here to contribute quite a bit, as frequently as possible.

Mario of all people taught me the phrase, "what's in the past is in the past" - and per his wishes I'd abide by that, but this, Mario, is not a video game. Nice try! You gave me some good hints, but you never beat me (well, except that one time when we decided that racing at Mugello on MotoGP would only be fair if I gave you a 22-second head start.) During our gaming days, Mario's best track time was 21.9 seconds slower than my best track time, and we usually competed doing 5 laps.

What a great story that was. We laughed about it every time it got brought up. When Mario and I lived together, I'd often come home to find him in my bedroom sitting on the ground next to my bed playing the XBox. MotoGP is a game with racetracks from all over the world that are designed to be very real, everything from Le Mans in France, to Valencia in Spain, to Phillip Island in Australia. Mugello was Mario's favorite track because it was Italian, of course.

Mario couldn't stand the fact that even though both our motorcycles had been designed to be equal on the game, I would still DOMINATE him whenever we were on the track. In real life it was the other way around. It was in those days that Mario crowned me King of all video games, and shortly thereafter he basically bragged about me to anyone he could. Matter of fact, a guy in California recently said he could beat me at a dirtbike racing game (which I've never played):

"I wouldn't challenge him to any video game. If you give him 1-hour and the same equipment you have he'll destroy you. Matter of fact, I wouldn't challenge him to a video game if I DESIGNED IT myself. That's why when Jeff got the PS3 and I got F1 Racing, I wouldn't let JC play. It records all the times, and I'd be so pissed if I were playing and all the record times on MY game were not really mine!"

The 22-second headstart at Mugello was won by Mario by .002 seconds. It was so close that afterwards he and I were rolling around on the ground because we couldn't believe just how accurate our times were. I know we saved the replay and watched it like it was a real life race a bunch of times.

He always was so generous when it came to video game compliments. I stayed true to my word, 'cause when Jeff and Mario used to both challenge me at Halo (them versus me) I'd end up beating them both pretty bad. And if there ever was a time when Mario needed a gaming partner, he knew who to call.

And just like that, a story that isn't even on my list is out there...

*For you, Super*

Postscript, by Mario: sent from Autumn

This is a small writing Mario put together in an email about one of his dreams. On behalf of myself and his other friends, nothing will be editted at the expense of being less-Mario. Ever. Mario would want it that way...

The other night I had a dream that I was on a ledge
and hanging onto a light fixture. One of those square
ones that seem to always be on and found hanging on
the side of schools, warehouses, etc.

Anyway, I am teetering on this ledge, making my way
around the light straddling it as I tip-toe around,
feeling for some footing.

Looking over my shoulder is unnerving to say the
least. I'm hundreds of thousands of feet up (think
Road-runner/Wile E.coyote), above the clouds even. So
high that there is no rightful business for a light,
let alone a cliff to be there.

So there I am, hanging on to this light with both
hands, it's center right on my chest - I can even feel
the warmth of it on my body...

And just like that, with no warning whatsoever, the
light snaps free from the wall with a creak, screws
ripping from the cement. I attempt to reach for
something else as I begin to fall away from the wall,
but it's too late. And I begin to fall.

I look over my shoulder as I am falling to see the
clouds I am rapidly approaching whisk by me in a haze.
I think to myself, "well, shit. I guess this is it. I
am going to die. Fuck."

Then I thought of you and your parents, at my funeral
as I'm sure my parents would insist on having one for
me, even though I have told them repeatedly that I
want a party with an open bar...Anyway - You are
crying as are they -- doing the normal funeral
things...shaking heads and asking "why?"

My parents and my sister are there too - but seeing
that is too depressing, so I try to think about
something else.

So then I jump to the first time I had sex and think
about how great and at the same time utterly awkward
and useless it was. And quick. And not that great
actually, but it sure felt good. Better than falling
to ones death...

(oh yeah, I was on the ledge taking a shortcut around
a cliff outside an arena. Jeff and Justin were on the
ground and egging me on, telling me to hurry, as the
game was about to begin. Yeah, it doesn't make sense,
but it's a dream. So anyway, the game starts and I am
going around the ledge slow and they are yelling at me
to hurry. Then the game starts and they go in to leave
me all alone -- then I fell)

So the next thing I think is that those two fuckers
are going to come out of the game and see my ass
splattered on the parking lot. That's what they get,
those bastards. And that's what they get for leaving
me and going into the game. I'll show them. Right.

Then I wonder what is taking so long, as I have been
falling for quite some time.

So I start thinking this is it. Soon I will know what
happens when you die. Will I wake up? Be in heaven
(ha!)? Hell? What? Darkness? Light? Will I be a Kitty?
Bug?

It's strangely clam as I fall too. No wind or noise.
But I can still feel the warmth of the light against
my chest, as I am falling backwards, still grasping it
tight...

And then I woke up.

It was one of the most real and scariest dreams
ever... and not scary like I woke up gasping or out of
breath or anything like that.... Just calm as a Hindu
cow, even though I thought I was going to die. (Not
quite) My whole life had passed before me and I was OK
with seeing what was next. It was freaky. I have had a
lot of dreams with cliffs and shit like that, but I
have never fall to where I would actually die or hit
the ground is all - usually I fly away or some crazy
shit saves me. Not this time.

Anyway, that was my dream. Crazy as usual. And better
than any movie I have seen..

We're back...

Jeff and I have returned. I'm not sure what to say at the moment, although there is much to be shared.

For now, I wanted to say that there are things forthcoming. Stories and more stories. A message from one of Mario's friends. That sorta stuff. Such are the things that would have been shared in hindsight, yet were never given a chance.

I've also decided that from here on the Mario-isms (all things that are as if Mario were speaking/acting), and direct quotes from Mario will be listed in green. That way we'll be able to quote directly from him and piece together his stories, however not always in our own words. If you send me something I'll put some green into it if you don't have time.

Why green you ask? Easy. Green means go. Sounds familiar...

More soon.

(if anyone who has not received this email would like details, please contact me at justinsalive@gmail.com)

A letter to Mario from Frank Kunz

Once we left ASU and moved to different parts of the valley, we never did get to see each other as much as I would have liked to. I guess that is my fault more than anything. But that never mattered with you, the couple times a year I would get to see you, all the blanks would be filled in within a few minutes, and it would be just like old times again.

The last time I saw you was at the Fiesta Bowl in January. We were having a bite to eat and I made a toast saying that it had been far too long since we’d last gotten to hang out. Once again my old friend……………..it will be far too long.

Rest in peace Mario, you will be missed.

A picture of Mario from Autumn...

This was taken in July of 2005 while Mario was getting his "30 Days" fix...

- Autumn

I found this on Super's Myspace page

Someone posted this to his Myspace page and I borrowed it and brought it over here. It's Valentino Rossi, and I'd bet just about anything that if Mario had had the time he would have had this picture blown up and framed for his room. This was a mantra to him...

A Valentino Rossi vid, as Super would say, "The Doctor", from Warren Sheppard

This video always reminded me of how Mario would drive around a car. Thats 7 time Motorcycle Grand Prix World Champion and one of Marios idols in the driver seat, Valentino Rossi.

Mario Frassetto and Jasen

(I moved this to the front page from the comments section)

A message from Jasen:

Hey Man. I can't believe we were just in Vegas making plans to get together in Tucson with Supe and now I'm having to send my condolences and share my grief. I still can't believe that this has actually happened. Mario was so full of life that you almost thought that he was invincible. If you're ever in town and want to get together don't hesitate to call.

This is my final farewell to an individual who I truly considered a close friend. There are many words I could use to try to describe Mario. All of which, he would be happy to own. I knew Mario as a co-worker, a workout partner, as a roommate, and as the guy I had to drive around on the weekends because he refused to take his motorcycle out to the bars. But most importantly, as a loyal friend who continued to share his world with me even after he moved to California. Mario lived his life the way he wanted to live it regardless of what others may have thought. And believe it or not, it actually worked out for him. He didn't fall for society's trick of making you think that you needed to achieve certain things in life in order to become "successful". He did what he wanted and achieved what most of us can't: Happiness. Mario didn't spend a day of his life stuck in a position that he wasn't happy with. He was a free spirit in its most literal sense, and I often times found myself admiring the life that he made for himself. Although he was taken at an early age, he spent more time completely content then most of us will our entire lives. As sad as his death is for me and so many others, those who knew him know that he didn't have any regrets when he passed from this life to the next. Take care, "Supe". I know whereever you're at; you're tearing it up the way only you knew how…

Mario Frassetto 8/31/74 - 6/29/08

Hello everyone,

This is Justin Collins - some of you may know me as one of Mario's friends in Arizona. I've decided to get a blog started for Mario Frassetto. Something small but in his memory. Most of us learned about this tragic loss a week after it happened, and as such many if not most of us were unable to send our condolences to his family and make arrangements to attend his funeral.

I'm slowly trying to understand what actually transpired as it sounds like I was one of the last people to be in contact with Mario the night of his death. It is hard to think that he is no longer with us so bear with me as this will be a work in progress. There are a lot of blanks to attempt to fill in.

Mario Frassetto
died on June 29th, 2008, while riding his motorcycle home. He was on the PCH headed southbound near Newport Beach, California, when something caused him to swerve and hit the guard rail. Hopefully further details will be available to us in the coming weeks. For now, each of the orange highlighted links is an article I found online.

In the meantime, I encourage anyone to send me an email at justinsalive@gmail.com so that I can post your stories and/or photos about your everyday life or adventures with Mario Frassetto. Nothing is too big or too small for me to post here. I hope that people will respond so that way we can always come back to this blog to see our friend.

I have a plethora of stories and pictures myself, and when I arrive back from Southern California next week I will begin the process of adding to his page.

His former roommate from Arizona, Jeff, and myself are headed to Southern California to sort some things out this coming weekend. You have my email and I have an iPhone so feel free to contact me at any time, I will return messages as promptly as possible.

If you would like to comment on his page you're welcome to do so right now. If you would like me to start a new post please let me know and I'll work with you on that.

We'll always miss you Mario.
